Although we have been providing independent and assisted living in the north shore for more than 20 years, in the past, Laurel Oaks was not ideally suited to meeting the needs of people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Over the years, we met with several architects to envision how we could adapt our expansive, land-locked building to make a space to serve people with special needs.
Just about a year ago, we began a $1 million renovation at Laurel Oaks, which finally allowed us to bring our expertise in serving people with dementia to the North Shore. Renovating a retirement community is no easy task – people have to be relocated to different apartments, construction is dirty and noisy, etc. But, it was all worth it.
I recently received this nice note from a family member,
“Ms Anderson:
The reason for this short note is to thank you for doing such a terrific job providing a healthy and wonderful place for our mother to be at this difficult time in hers as well as her families’ lives. The staff is wonderful. Each and everyone one of them is caring, patient, engaging and nurturing. One of my personal concerns as we were looking for a place for my mom, was that she would be nothing more than a revenue spot and she would exist the rest of her life in a chair or in bed until the inevitable happened. This is clearly not the case. Donna and her staff are to be commended for doing a wonderful job for The Laureate Group and for the residents of the suites. Thank you.”

The best way to experience what makes Laurel Oaks special is to visit with staff, observe some of the activities and talk to the people who will be directly responsible for your loved one’s care. Stop in at our Spring Open House, April 28, 2012 1:00-3:00 p.m.
